Police appeal for witnesses after man forced to the ground and robbed in Glasgow's South side

A 66-year-old man’s been knocked down to the ground and robbed in the South side of Glasgow.

He was walking along Myrtle Park, near Holyrood Sport Centre, at around 14:50 on Friday when he was approached by two men, who forced him to the ground and stole his mobile phone.

The suspects then made off along Aitkenhead Road.

The first man is described as 5ft8, of slim build, with short cropped black hair and a moustache. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black joggings bottoms with white writing on the front.

The second man is described as 5ft8, of slim build and was wearing a khaki coloured top. He was also riding a bicycle.

Detective Sergeant Graham McCreadie from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said:

“To target an innocent man in this way is absolutely despicable and it is vital that we trace the cowardly individuals responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Friday afternoon, who may have witnessed the incident or noticed two man matching the above descriptions, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan via 101 and quote incident number 2284 of Friday 4th August 2017. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
