Serious assault in Cambuslang leaves police searching for group of youths

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Cambuslang on Sunday, 3 September, 2023.

Around 9.30pm a 35-year-old man was at the grassy area near to Amran Tandoori on Hamilton Road, when a group of male youths jumped over a fence and proceeded to assault him with baseball bats.

The attack continued from the grassy area towards Clyde Place, before the youths made off back along Hamilton Road.

The victim was later taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to a facial injury.

There are understood to have been three to four male youths aged between 13 to 16 years old involved in the incident.

They are described as wearing dark clothing which covered some of their faces.

Detective Constable Lynn Livesey from Cambuslang CID said: “This assault seems to have been completely unprovoked and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.

“In particular, I am looking to speak to anyone who saw this group of youths in the area, or anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist with our enquiries.
