Police appeal as pensioner fights for life
An 80 year old man was hit by a car in Cardonald
Police are making an appeal to bus passengers for information after an 80 year-old man was hit by a car in Cardonald yesterday morning.
At around 10.30am on Tuesday the man was struck by a red Fiat 500 while crossing Berryknowes Road, and officers believe those travelling in the area at the time may be able to assist them.
Enquiries have revealed that there were several buses in the area at the time of the incident, and officers are asking for drivers and passengers to get in touch with them if they have any information that may help them with their investigation.
Medical staff at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital have described him as being in a critical condition after he was rushed there following the incident.
The driver of the Fiat was uninjured, but has been left shaken by the incident. It's believed the 80 year-old may have walked in front of a stationary bus at a bus stop before being hit by the car.
The road was closed for several hours as enquiries were conducted by crash scene investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Nicola Taylor from the Road Policing Unit at Helen Street by dialing 101.
