Police appeal after man injured in Rutherglen assault

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Toryglen Road on Saturday 17 December 2016.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Toryglen Road on Saturday 17 December 2016.

Around 7 o'clock on Saturday morning, police were called to a report of a 29 year-old man injured after being seriously assaulted in Toryglen Road, near to its junction with Penman Avenue.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is being treated for several lacerations.

Detective Sergeant Susie Cairns from Lanarkshire Division said:

“Our enquiry is at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and who is responsible. Police enquiries are being carried out in the area and officers are gathering CCTV footage.
