Police Appeal For Information After Cumbernauld Assault

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Cumbernauld on Tuesday 28 April 2015.

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Cumbernauld on Tuesday 28 April 2015. Around 11.30am a 19 year old woman was walking along a local footpath near to Marmion Road, Greenfaulds, Cumbernauld when she was grabbed from behind and pulled back causing her to fall to the ground. The woman was carrying her one year old son in her arms at the time of the incident. She managed to protect the child as she fell however, she sustained a facial injury in the fall. As the woman fell the man then ran off. He is described as around 6 ft. tall, slim build and wearing a black hooded top and dark coloured jeans. Officers have been conducting enquiries in an around the area in an effort to find out more detail about the suspect. Inspector Phil Rose said: "It’s not clear why this man approached the woman and pulled her back, we don’t know if he intended to rob her or if his intention was to harm her. "The footpath is well used by local people and at that time of the day there would have been people out and about. If you know who this man is or if you have any knowledge about him or the crime, please do get in touch with us."
