Police appeal for information following assault and robbery in Renfrew

The incident happened yesterday evening.

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and robbed in Robertson Park in Renfrew.

It happened between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on yesterday evening (28 September).

The 25-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious facial injuries.

Personal items as well as a black mountain bike with white breaks were also taken.

The first suspect is said to be male, white, late teens or early 20s with blonde hair. He was wearing a white hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms, dark trainers and was carrying an over the shoulder strap pouch bag and a glass bottle.

The second is described as male, white, late teens or early 20s with dark hair. He was wearing a blue tracksuit top, bright blue tracksuit bottoms, checked scarf, dark trainers and was carrying a dark rucksack with stripes on the rear and a glass bottle.

Detective Constable James Campbell said: “This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a vulnerable young man who has ended up in hospital as a result.

“It’s vital we trace those responsible and I would urge anyone with information about what happened or who recognises the description of these males to get in touch with us.”
