Police appeal after attempted robbery in Alexandria

Police in West Dunbartonshire are searching for a man after an attempted robbery on Thursday June 13.

The incident happened at around 3.15pm, when the man entered a shop on Main Street, Alexandria, threatened a member of staff and demanded money.

He left before taking anything, and the staff member was uninjured. Police believe the man may have headed towards Overtoun Street.

The suspect is described as white, aged 35 to 45, around 6ft 1ins, with dark, greying hair, wearing a dark baseball cap, green jacket, dark trousers, and dark trainer.

Detective Constable Calum Hall said: “Fortunately no one was injured but the staff member was left upset by what happened and enquiries are ongoing to find the man responsible.

“We are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or who might have private CCTV or dashcam footage that could help with our investigation to get in touch.
