Police in Hamilton are appealing for information after the unexplained death of a 23 year old man in the town yesterday.

Officers were called to Morgan Street around 6.55pm on Saturday October 26 where an “as yet unidentified man” was found and taken to Hairmyres Hospital.

He was pronounced dead after arrival, but police are still working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

They say his next of kin have been informed.

"Increased police presence"

Chief Inspector Neil Smith said: “A postmortem examination will take place in due course and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“There is an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to them.

“Anyone with information that may assist our enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 2991 of 26 October.”
