Police have charged a woman and arrested a man after unrelated fatal crashes in Lanarkshire last year.

Around 9.10pm on March 17, 2024, a 68-year-old man was struck by a white Ford Puma car as he crossed the carriageway on the A721 Bellshill Road at the junction with Logans Road, Motherwell.

He was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital but died four days later.

The 24-year-old woman who was driving the Puma was arrested at the time – now she has been charged and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

That’s as a 35-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into a fatal road crash in Hamilton on October 27, 2024.

The incident happened around 12.40am on Quarry Street. Emergency services attended and 70-year-old James was pronounced dead at the scene

Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0171 of Sunday, 27 October, 2024.
