Police believe 'viscous' plank of wood assault was targeted

Police are seeking information after a man was injured in the early hours of Friday morning

Police are seeking information after a 34-year-old man was assaulted with a plank of wood in Johnstone.

He was attacked by two men on Friday 18 November 2022 at 4:10 PM on Graham Street.

The men left the scene in a small black car heading towards MacDowall Street, Johnstone.

The injured man entered The Hagg Bar, Graham Street, and sought help.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated and has since been released.

Suspects described

One suspect is described as white, about 6ft tall and of slim build. He had a dark stubble beard, dark bags under his eyes and a scar on the right side of his face. This man was wearing all black clothing and black trainers

The second suspect is also white, about 6ft tall and of slim build. He was bald and clean shaven. This man was wearing all white clothing and white trainers.

Officers are checking CCTV footage from the area for any additional information on the suspects or the vehicle.

Enquiries ongoing

Detective Constable James Campbell, of Paisley Police, said: "While enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this attack, we believe it to be targeted.

"It was a vicious assault that happened in the middle of the day, weapons were used and the man has been badly injured.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen the attack take place, who may have doorbell or dash-cam footage capturing the incident, or who has any information that will assist the investigation to come forward.

"Information can be passed to police via 101, quoting reference number 2499 of 18 November, 2022, when calling.

"Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
