Several copper pine cone structures stolen from the Gorbals

Detectives are investigating the disappearance of nine copper pine cones from the Gorbals area of Glasgow.

Two men were caught on CCTV putting two of the structures from McNeil Gardens into a vehicle and driving off around 12.45am on Monday 13th December.

Police have since discovered a further seven are also missing from the area. The pine cones are approximately two feet tall and are covered in copper casing.

Sergeant Gary Bone said: “We believe the items may have been stolen so they can be stripped of their copper coating.

“I am appealing to people in the local community to get in touch with us as we work to establish what has happened to these structures. If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious around the time of the incident, please pass your information on.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0130 of 13 December, 2021. Alternatively, you can give your information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can remain anonymous.”
