Pensioner has jaw broken and jewellery stolen on Glasgow attack

An elderly woman has suffered a broken jaw in a `senseless' attack in Glasgow.
The 70-year-old victim was standing outside the rear of a scout hall on Shawmoss Road, Crossmyloof, at around 7.30pm on Thursday when she was approached by a man who forced her to the ground and assaulted her.
He then ran off with jewellery and her mobile phone.
She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.
The suspect is said to be an Eastern European man in his late 30s, with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing including a jacket with a red trim around the neck and white writing on the left side.
Detective Constable Christopher Sneddon said: `This was a senseless and violent attack on this elderly woman, leaving her with a broken jaw and extensive bruising.
`The man responsible has no conscience and must be caught as soon as possible.
`Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and studying CCTV footage to gather more information for this investigation.'
