An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car after falling on the road in Glasgow.
An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car after falling on the road in Glasgow.
David Spence, 79, from the Ibrox area, was crossing Paisley Road West near Copland Road when police say he fell and was then hit by a silver Nissan Note at 9.20pm on Wednesday.
Mr Spence was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but died a short time later. The male driver of the car was uninjured.
A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which has been captured on CCTV.
Sergeant Kenneth Canavan said: "Mr Spence is seen on CCTV crossing the road, then falling to the ground where he was struck by a Nissan Note that was travelling east on Paisley Road West.
"Members of the public, including a passing paramedic, stopped to assist and Mr Spence was taken to hospital but unfortunately he died early this morning.
"I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident contact Police Scotland."
