A pensioner has been killed after she was hit by a car in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire.
A pensioner has been killed after she was hit by a car in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire.
The woman, 79, was crossing Alexander Street at about 7.20pm on Thursday when she was struck.
She was taken to Monklands Hospital where she later died.
The driver and the two passengers in the car were uninjured.
Sergeant John Tait said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.
"Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell.''
