A woman's died at a property in Hamilton in an incident police are calling 'unexplained'.
Emergency services were called to reports of a woman injured in a house on Gilmour Drive last night.
The 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a house in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton.
"Emergency services attended and a 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will be carried out.
"Officers remain at the scene and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.
"A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
