Police appeal for witness after early morning incident in Balornock

A 83-year-old woman is critical in hospital after being hit by a Land Rover in the north east of Glasgow this morning.

The elderly lady was struck in Balornock at 7.45 as she was crossing Northgate Road, near the junction with Acredyke Road.

She was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe her condition as critical. The female driver of the Land Rover Discovery was not injured.

Sergeant Grant MacIver, Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: "Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.

“In particular, I'm keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage or who saw either the pedestrian or the car before the crash. Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1044 of Saturday, 19th September 2020.”
