Pedestrian dies after crash in East Kilbride

A 50 -year-old male pedestrian has died following a collision involving a car on the A725, Kingsway in East Kilbride.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm last night on the northbound carriageway between the White Moss and Whirlies roundabouts.
The man was struck by a Volkswagen Golf car.
Emergency services attended but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The 40-year-old male driver was uninjured. He has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing.
The road was closed to allow an investigation at the scene and has since reopened.
Sergeant Andy Currie, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone with information or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area on Friday evening.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3647 of 23 September.”
