Man in critical condition after bus crash in Glasgow City Centre

A 40-year old man was seriously injured after being hit by a bus on Midland Street.

A 40-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a bus in Glasgow City Centre.

Police are appealing for witnesss following the road crash which left a man seriously injured.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Midland Street at its junction with Jamaica Street around 1:45pm on Saturday 20 August, 2022.

Ambulance crews transported the injured man to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff are describing his condition as critical.

Midland Street was closed off to the public for around 7-hours after the incident and re-opened around 9pm.

Police report the driver of the bus is uninjured.

Officers are no appealing for information surrounding the incident.

Sergeant Ryan McAuley, Police Scotland Road Policing Unit said: “The area was quite busy at the time of the crash, and I am appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

“I am keen to obtain any dash-cam footage of the crash as well, so if you were in the area at the time and may have captured footage, then please get in touch.”

Information can be passed to officers via 101 quoting reference number 1837 of Saturday, 20 August, 2022.
