A paratrooper from East Kilbride, who lost his left leg after being marooned in an unmarked minefield in Afghanistan, says a movie released earlier this week has striking similarities to his own experience.

A paratrooper from East Kilbride, who lost his left leg after being marooned in an unmarked minefield in Afghanistan, says a movie released earlier this week has striking similarities to his own experience.

42 year-old Stuart Pearson served in the army for just under 20 years - he was caught in the blast just minutes after one of his colleagues was blown up meters away from him.

MINE is set in a sub-Saharan desert and Sergeant Mike Stevens (Armie Hammer) finds himself stuck in the middle of a mine field after attempting to flee an assassination attempt that goes wrong.

Tired, wounded and bereft of any resources, Mike must draw on every part of his military training to stand any chance of returning home.
