A man has died three days after he was injured in a street attack.

Johnathan McEwan, 33, was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Saturday following the incident in the town's New Street at about 3am.

He died at the hospital on Tuesday. A man was arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident.

In a statement, Mr McEwan's family said: "We would like to thank all the staff at the intensive care unit in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and also the members of the organ donation team.

"We would also like to thank all our family and friends for their support and love that has been shown for Johnny and his family at this difficult time."

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

James Crossan, 18, was charged with attempted murder when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

The teenager, from Paisley, made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
