Early morning fire deliberately set on Paisley building site as police issue appeal

Police are seeking public help in an attempt to track down those who started the blaze in Ferguslie Park.

Detectives in Renfrewshire are appealing for witnesses after a deliberate fire was set on a Paisley building site.

The incident occurred around 2.30am on Sunday 10 April with police and emergency services being called to the fire at the site in Blackstoun Road, Ferguslie Park.

Scottish Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the fire, but it is being treated as wilful.

Police say there was no one within the building site when the arrived, but whoever caused the blaze has caused damage.

They are now issuing a public plea in an attempt to track down those responsible.

Detective Constable Martyn Renfrew, of Paisley CID, said: "Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Sunday, 10 April, is urged to get in touch.

"If you were driving and have dash-cam that could assist with our enquiries, then I would also urge you to contact us.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference number 0540 of Sunday, 10 April, 2022.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 111 555, where anonymity can be maintained."
