Pair jailed for a total of nine years after axe and handgun attack in Glasgow
Two thugs caught on CCTV attacking a man with a gun and an axe on a petrol station forecourt were yesterday jailed for a total of nine years.
Jordan McCluskey and Josh Platt pounced on Charles Campbell in Glasgow's Ibrox last November.
McCluskey was already subject to four separate bail orders when the pair struck.
The attack was said to have happened after his family home was earlier vandalised.
McCluskey, 29, was jailed for five years and Platt, 23, for four years after pleading guilty to assaulting Mr Campbell to his severe injury.
They were also ordered to be monitored in the community for two years after their release.
The pair were at the Esso petrol station in the city's Broomloan Road when Mr Campbell and others turned up in another car.
Platt had previously had a row with a friend of Mr Campbell.
A confrontation occurred with the victim falling onto the forecourt.
Prosecutor Michael Meehan said: “McCluskey repeatedly kicked him. He also struck him repeatedly on the head and body using a handgun.
“Platt struck him repeatedly with an axe.
“Both then returned to their vehicle and drove off.”
Mr Campbell suffered a fractured skull and jaw as well as bleeding on the brain – but did not require surgery.
He later stated he could not remember what happened to him.
But when the attackers from Penilee, Glasgow were arrested, the gun – found to be a blank firing pistol – was discovered by police.
The court heard the victim is believed to have links to a gang who allegedly targeted McCluskey's home.
McCluskey's lawyer Gerry Considine said: “His position was that there was a group who had attacked his home while his children were inside.”
Lord Matthews was also told there was a “territorial” background to the incident that “may make no great sense”.
Lord Matthews told the pair: “This was highly unacceptable, to behave in this way was disgraceful.
