42 year-old David Henderson and 26 year-old Jamie Docherty 'held up the Lifestyle Express store in the city's Cathcart last December.
A terrified female worker was threatened with a meat cleaver before being repeatedly punched.
The pair then made off with the shop's till, around £80 in cash as well as alcohol.
Police later identified Henderson and Docherty as being suspects.
Henderson was eventually found sitting on stairs at a nearby block of flats drinking from a bottle of whisky taken from the shop.
The duo are now behind bars after they pled guilty to assault and robbery at the High Court in Glasgow.
Prosecutor Blair Speed revealed both already had a history of violence with Henderson previously jailed for seven years for serious assault.
Lord Mulholland remanded them in custody as sentencing was deferred for reports.
