A man whose angry bulldog killed another dog has been spared jail.

Mark Mather had admitted failing to restrain or supervise his pet last November.

The 42 year-old had allowed his tan American Bulldog to roam free in a park in Glasgow's Milton.

It initially attacked Hugh and Elizabeth McCabe, who were out walking their pet.

The bulldog then turned on the other dog, biting and shaking the animal.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the McCabes' pet sadly suffered a fatal injury.

Sheriff Gerard Bonnar ordered Mather, also of Milton, to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.

He also made a destruction order in connection with Mather's dog.
