Online booking firm secures £595K funding boost
The Edinburgh based Appointedd receives investment from Skyscanner Chief Executive Gareth Williams and Kilmarnock businesswoman Marie Macklin CBE
An Edinburgh based online booking firm has secured £595,000 of funding to help boost expansion.
Appointedd has received finance from a number of investors including Skyscanner chief executive Gareth Williams and Kilmarnock based businesswoman Marie Macklin CBE, founder of Macklin Enterprise Partnerships.
The Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise, also invested in the latest funding round.
Appointedd said the new funding will allow it to scale up its online appointment booking software suite.
The capital-based start-up provides online booking services which can be managed by businesses via their own website, Facebook page or a dedicated micro booking site.
Last year the company launched a global first multi-timezone booking tool, which it credits with having establishing a global market for its technology.
Markus Brinsa, president and chief executive of US management consultant Seikouri, joined the Appointedd board in June of last year to help steer the company's global expansion.
Last month Appointedd was selected as one of 12 integrated software systems in an innovative app platform curated by National Australia Bank which will see Appointedd software offered to 700,000 SMEs across Australia.
Commenting on the latest funding close, Appointedd founder and chief executive, Leah Hutcheon, said: “It has been fantastic to get such a positive reaction from investors at this round.
“We have felt extremely honoured to attract investment from the founder of one of Scotland’s unicorn companies and experienced entrepreneurs like Marie Macklin CBE.
“We look forward to using their expertise to help expand our software globally.
“We are already seeing some amazing traction, and it’s exciting to be working with partners like National Australia Bank.
“We’re particularly looking forward to growing our team as we have another global player to be announced soon.”
Skyscanner chief executive Gareth Williams said: “It’s been a pleasure to watch the Appointedd product hone over time and I’m excited to be involved in the next stage of their growth.
“The software has the potential to be the leader in a huge market and I look forward to watching their international expansion.”
Equity Gap director, Fraser Lusty, added: “We are delighted to continue to support Leah and the team at Appointedd through their next growth phase.
