Officers seize £350000 worth of drugs on Lanarkshire motorway

Officers have seized around £350,000 worth of drugs from a car driving on the M73 in Lanarkshire.

The vehicle was stopped on the northbound carriageway near Gartcosh around 10.30am yesterday.

A search was carried out before the class A drugs were found.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the discovery.

He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court today.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Stoddart said: “Recoveries such as this highlight our determination to protect the public from this type of harmful criminality.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy and we will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle this issue and make our communities safer.
