OAP serious after being struck by car in Glasgow

Police say an OAP is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Glasgow.

The 74 year old was crossing Hamiltonhill Road at the junction with Stonyhurst Street in Possilpark last night at around 1745 when she was struck by a VW Golf.

Emergency services attended and she was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to receive treatment for serious injuries.

She remains in hospital where medical staff describe her condition as serious.

A 42 year-old man, who was driving a silver VW Golf Car involved in the incident, was unharmed.

No one else was injured as a result of this incident. The road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation following the collision.

Sergeant John Bradford from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Govan, said:

“The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident take place to contact road policing officers based at Govan via 101.”
