A nurse was cleared today of assaulting a vulnerable woman at her home.

Kevin Donnachie, 55, was alleged to have attacked the 60-year-old at the property in Glasgow’s Maryhill between September 2021 and February 2022.

Court papers stated Donnachie was employed a nurse and a care giver to the woman.

It was claimed that Donnachie tweaked her nose and placed footballs under her clothing.

The charge further said that Donnachie repeatedly placed his face against hers and touched her face.

Papers stated Donnachie lay beside her on a bed where she was sleeping and touched her on the face.

It was claimed that he went on to place his head under her bed clothes and repeatedly cuddled her.

Donnachie was further accused of following the woman to the toilet and watching her as well as tickle her stomach.

Donnachie, of Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire, denied the single charge.

Sheriff Mark Maguire found Donnachie not guilty after trial.

He told him: "This was a difficult case involving the subject matter.

"Having heard and considered all of the evidence and submissions, I am left with a hesitation about whether he did commit the acts and whether these acts corroborated each other.

"Having a hesitation means there is a reasonable doubt of which the benefit must go to Mr Donnachie."
