A consultation on allowing boys into Scotland's last state-funded single-sex school has found the majority of people want to keep boys out.

A consultation was launched at Notre Dame High in Glasgow earlier this year and gave teachers, pupils and the local community three options: maintaining the status quo, changing to co-ed or expanding the catchment area.

46% of people voted to open the secondary up to both sexes however, a total of 53.6% of people opted for options 1 and 2, which mean maintaining the status quo.

A council spokeswoman said: “We are continuing to analyse the consultation figures and a report will be submitted to a future education, skills and early years committee as well as the City Administration Committee in due course.”
