Detectives received a report of an offensive message posted on Twitter, relating to the Glasgow collision, at around 9pm last night.
Six people died and a further eight were left injured after a bin lorry veered out of control in the city centre yesterday afternoon.
Northumbria Police say they're carrying out enquiries into this message and will speak to the person involved, from Sunderland, as part of those enquiries.
