North Lanarkshire Council leader Jordan Linden steps down after sexual misconduct allegations

He became the head of one of Scotland's biggest councils two months ago.

The leader of North Lanarkshire Council is stepping down over sexual misconduct allegations.

Twenty-seven year-old Jordan Linden took on the job after the local council elections in May.

A spokesperson said, "We can confirm that the chief executive has received a letter from Councillor Jordan Linden resigning his role as Leader of the Council.

"A new leader will be elected at a meeting of the council to be held in due course."
