The family of Graham Fraser who took his own life one month ago have placed colourful benches around North Lanarkshire in his memory, in a bid to help others who are struggling.

The 27-year old's parents, Angela and William Blackwood, are hoping they can prevent anyone else's family from going through what they have.

They've installed benches at three locations around Motherwell - one on Merry Street, another in Calder Park and across from the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility. They plan to install a further ten in and around North Lanarkshire over the next few weeks - and eventually have them placed in various areas in Scotland.

'Why? The Graham Fraser Foundation' has been set up to try and help people who are thinking of taking their own life.

On each bench, there's a picture of Graham with his 18-month old daughter, Hannah, and two freephone numbers - leading back to Graham's dad, William, and Graham's uncle, Paul.

His family hope that more people will spend time sitting on the bench and talking with others or calling the helplines if they feel like they're in a bad place.

Currently, the benches are being funded by Graham's parents, but they're hoping organisations offer to buy some of the benches. The benches would cost £100, with £40 of this going towards the foundation.

His family are also hoping to install a text service in the near future to allow people to use this if they don't feel like they could phone and speak to someone.
