North Lanarkshire Council leader who announced U-turn on leisure centre closures up for award
Jim Logue's administration announced a U-turn on plans to close 39 community facilities last week after a dramatic backlash.
The leader of North Lanarkshire Council is up for an award just a week after he U-turned on plans to close 39 community facilities across the area.
Jim Logue is nominated for Lifetime legend, along with Martha Wardrop from Glasgow and David Watson from South Lanarkshire.
Last week his council scrapped plans to close the Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex in Bellshill, Shotts Leisure Centre and dozens of other community facilities following a public outcry.

Angus Miller who leads on climate at Glasgow City and is fronting the introduction on the Low Emission Zone is among five up for Resilience Champion.
Next week the city council is facing a legal challenge over the Low Emission Zone started by William Paton - a garage owner in the city centre.

Forty-nine local councillors from across England, Wales and Scotland have been shortlisted for the 2023 LGIU and CCLA Cllr Awards.
The winners in Scotland will be announced at the City Chambers in Edinburgh at 7pm on 21 November 2023.
