SSE Hydro turned into vaccination centre as NHS Louisa Jordan closes
The NHS Louisa Jordan was built incase needed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but has never seen a single Covid patient.
The SSE Hydro is being turned into a vaccination centre, which will open on Tuesday 6 April.
It's as the NHS Louisa Jordan prepares to close its doors for good tonight, having never seen a single Covid patient since it was built at the beginning of the pandemic.
Vaccinations will continue there until Saturday 3 April.
However, it's seen 32,000 outpatients and 175,000 vaccinations have been carried out there.
Jill Young, Chief Executive of NHS Louisa Jordan, said:
"We're kind of torn - we're really sad we're closing it, but we're really happy we weren't needed for Covid.
"We decided that we would be, I believe, quite different from all the other Covid emergency hospitals.
"We wouldn't sit empty sitting waiting on the second wave.
"We brought in 14 different specialties from orthopaedics to breast services and plastic."
