Newsagents held up at knifepoint in Dumbarton
robber made off with a quantity of cash from the M&M Stores on Bonhill Road
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a newsagents in Dumbarton.
Around 1040 hours a man entered M&M Stores, 1 Bonhill Road, and threatened staff with a weapon.
An alarm was sounded and the man made off from the store along Meadow Road with a quantity of cash.
He was last seen on Townhead Road heading towards Bellsmyre.
The man is described as white, around 5ft4, with short black hair and spoke with an Irish accent. He was wearing a black bomber style jacket, black trousers, black trainers and black sunglasses.
Detective Constable Bruce Fyfe from Clydebank CID said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt during this incident but staff were still left badly shaken by what happened.
“We are currently carrying out enquiries including examining CCTV and speaking to local residents to gather as much information as possible to help us trace the person responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area or anything suspicious to contact officers at Clydebank CID on 101.
