'You'll Never Walk Alone' is now a million-seller song
It was released 52 years ago.
Gerry and the Pacemakers' cover of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' has sold over a million copies 52 years after its release.
The song from the musical Carousel was covered by the band in 1963 and later became a Celtic anthem.
The single gave Gerry and the Pacemakers their third number one, meaning all three of their first singles hit the top spot, something that wasn't repeated until the mid-80s.
In 1963 'You'll Never Walk Alone' spent four weeks at number one and the song has since re-entered the charts in 2010 and 2012. A charity version of the song was also released in 1985 to raise money for the Bradford City stadium fire. This version by The Crowd featured Gerry Marsden and spent one week at the top spot.
'You'll Never Walk Alone' has become the 165th song to sell over a million copies.
