Murder Investigation After Man Dies In Hospital

A murder enquiry has been launched following the death of a man in Clydebank.

At around 2130 hrs on Thursday 18 December 2014, John McCallum (49) was discovered with serious injuries within his home in Meldrum Street, Whitecrook, Clydebank.

He was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary where he died on Saturday 20 December 2014.

A post mortem examination has now taken place and police are treating his death as murder.

Relatives are aware.

Detective Inspector George McAllister of Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Teams said:

“We are currently carrying out door to door enquires within the local area in an attempt to find out the whereabouts of Mr McCallum prior to 2130 hrs on Thursday 18 December 2014.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who was in Meldrum Street on Thursday evening and may have either heard a disturbance from within Mr McCallum's home, noticed anyone entering or leaving the address or hanging about within the street.”
