A murder investigation has started after a father and son were found dead in their home.

16-year-old Tony Thomas and his dad Serewyn, 40, were found in Bishopbriggs' Grainger Road on December 23.

Paramedics rushed to the house just after 4pm but the pair couldn't be saved.

Keen athlete and aspiring law student Tony was paid tribute by his kayaking club on Facebook.

A statement from Glasgow Kayak Club Sprint and Marathon Team said: "Thank you for being a part of the GKC family. You were the first member, the big brother, the trailblazer.

"While we're no longer fortunate enough to paddle next to you, the memories you have given us will stay with us forever.

"What is sadness today will be pride tomorrow, as we smile and remember our friend Tony."

Another friend wrote: "What a positive impact Tony had upon so many lives as he developed from a boy to a young man.

"Gentle in nature, motivated, smiling and always a great ambassador for Scottish Sprint paddling."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.10 pm on Wednesday, 23 December, 2020, a 16-year-old male youth and 40-year-old man were found dead within a house in Grainger Road, Bishopbriggs. Post mortem examinations have taken place, and police have launched a murder investigation. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing."
