Murder Inquiry Launched in Cumbernauld

A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a man in Cumbernauld.

It comes after police were called to a disturbance in Glenhove Road in the town on Thursday.

25-year-old Anthony Laurie was found with serious injuries and was taken to Monklands and District General Hospital, but died a short time later.

Following a post mortem examination the death is now being treated as murder. Detective Chief Inspector Laura Mcluckie of the Police Scotland Major Investigation Team said: “My officers have been conducting door to door enquiries and viewing CCTV in an attempt to identify the person or persons responsible for Mr Laurie’s death.' “We are also trying to track his movements on the day of Thursday and would like to speak to anyone who had seen him prior to midnight that day. He is described as 25 years of age, 5'10, medium build, short brown receding hair, brown eyes and was wearing a navy ‘Lacoste’ tracksuit, royal blue polo shirt, and black ’Nike’ trainers.'

'I am also keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity and witnessed a disturbance at Glenhove Road, Cumbernauld shortly before midnight on Thursday 1 October.'
