Mum pushed to ground by two men whilst walking with her son in East Kilbride

Police are are appealing for witnesses after a young mum was assaulted whilst walking with her son in East Kilbride.

Police are are appealing for witnesses after a young mum was assaulted whilst walking with her son in East Kilbride. The 27-year-old was walking over a footbridge (crossing the Kingsway) towards Burns Park, at around 7.15pm on Friday, when two men approached her from behind and demanded her handbag.

The woman was pushing her 13-month-old son in a buggy at the time and she ignored the men and carried on walking.

One of the men then struck the woman on her right side before the two of them ran off.

No-one was injured but the woman was left shaken by the incident. Police have issued the following descriptions of the suspects:

  1. White, 17 – 18 years of age, between 5 ft 4 and 5 ft 5 inches in height. He was wearing a white hooded top, blue jeans and white Nike trainers.
  1. White, 17 – 18 years of age, around 5 ft 7 inches in height. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and blue jeans.

Detective Constable David Timmons said: “These two men are contemptible, to frighten a young woman with a child is shameful and it’s imperative we find out who they are.

"If you were in the vicinity of the footpath at Burns Park around the time of the incident, please get in touch with us.”
