"Much loved" grandfather named as man who died in Airdrie crash

The man who died after a four car crash in Airdrie on Friday has been named by police as 58 year old Francis (Frank) Hooper.

The incident happened on October 11 at around 3.25pm, when a car collided with a bus and two other cars in Stirling Street.

Mr Hooper, who was driving, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

His family have asked for privacy following the news.

"Much loved husband, father and grandfather"

They released a statement saying: “Frank was a much loved husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.”

Road Policing Sergeant Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Hooper.

“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact us via 101, quoting incident number 2154 of Friday, 11 October 2024.”
