MSP John Wilson Joins Green Party
Independent MSP John Wilson has joined the Scottish Green Party.
Independent MSP John Wilson has joined the Scottish Green Party.
Mr Wilson, a former SNP politician, intends to continue to sit as an independent member for Central Scotland.
He left the SNP after the referendum following the party's decision to endorse Scotland's membership of Nato in the event of independence.
In October, fellow former SNP politician John Finnie also joined the Greens.
The Scottish Green Party is the best vehicle for reflecting my view on environmental, social and economic policies, and is providing leadership on key issues such as fracking, land ownership and a citizen's income,'' Mr Wilson said.
Patrick Harvie, co-convenor of the Scottish Green Party, said: The Scottish Greens are enjoying a surge in membership and a steady rise in the polls, and I'm sure John Wilson will help us make the most of that in Central Scotland.''
