Motorcyclist who died in South Lanarkshire crash named

It happened on the near Elsrickle last week

A man who died when his motorbike collided with a lorry on a rural South Lanarkshire road has been named as a 45-year-old from Whitburn.

John Morrison was riding a Honda on the A702 near Elsrickle on Monday 6th June when the crash happened.

Police are re-appealing for any witnesses to come forward as they investigate what happened - including the driver of a minibus that was heading to Edinburgh.

Sergeant Andy Currie from the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Morrison’s family and friends.

“Enquiries continue into the cause of this crash and I would again urge anyone who witnessed this crash or who has any information that may assist us to come forward.

"We are keen to speak to the driver of a minibus that stopped at the scene shortly after the crash happened and provided assistance.

"The bus was heading to Edinburgh and I would urge the driver to contact us as soon as possible as he may hold information that will assist our investigation.

“We would also ask anyone driving on the A702 in the Elsrickle area before the crash took place to contact us.”
