An 86-year-old motorcyclist has died after a crash on a major north/south route.

The accident involving two cars and a motorbike happened on the A82, five miles north of Luss, Argyll and Bute, at about 11.05am.

A black Honda motorcycle was travelling north when it was involved in a collision with a Range Rover and a Vauxhall Mokka.

Police said the 86-year-old man on the motorcycle died at the scene.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: "We are hopeful that one lane of the A82 will be reopened shortly and I would like to take this opportunity to thank motorists caught up in the delays for their patience.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw a black Honda motorcycle travelling north along the A82 or witnessed the collision to contact police immediately.

"In particular, I would like to speak to the driver of a black 4x4 vehicle, possibly a Ford pick-up truck, who was heading southbound on the road and may have witnessed the incident.''

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police on 101.
