Police name motorcyclist who died in crash near Strathblane

A man who died in a motorbike crash in East Dunbartonshire has been named as 48-year-old Robert Paton from Bellshill.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A891 near Strathblane shortly before 3.30pm yesterday afternoon - with the road closing for around eight hours afterwards.

Police said that Mr Paton was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, but that he sadly died today (29 May).

Sergeant Nick Twigg of Glasgow Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with Robert's family and friends and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the motorcycle before the crash, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was on the A891 around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
