More school chaos across Glasgow and the West as teachers strike over pay
Disruption across local authorities is varied.
Last updated 7th Dec 2022
Thousands of pupils across Glasgow and the West are facing another day off school as their teachers swap the classroom for the picket line.
Members of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association and the NASUWT are striking because they claim they need a 10% pay rise.
Seamus Searson from the SSTA told Clyde 1: "Teachers are reluctant to take this action and would much rather be in front of their classes getting ready for the national qualifications.
"Unfortunately, the lack of progress in this pay dispute has resulted in this step and all we can hope is this matter is resolved sooner rather than later.
"At the moment, this industrial action could run into January and February and we don't want to put parents and pupils in this position, but we have no other choice."
