Music fans may have inadvertently filmed a serious assault at TRNSMT festival on Saturday - that's according to police.

A 38-year-old man was punched in the face by another man around 5.50pm near the Smirnoff House Live DJ area - he'd tried to intervene in a dispute between the suspect and two women.

The man was treated for a cut by First Aid staff and released, while the suspect ran off after the attack.

The suspect is described as white, 20 to 30 years of age, 5 ft 6 in height, of slim build, with red/auburn hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and blue denim shorts.

Detective Constable Sarah Steven, Shettleston CID, said: “The man had been in the Smirnoff House area of the festival with his friends when he overheard the suspect arguing with two women who were in their late teens/early 20s. He went over to try and calm the situation, however, the man turned on him and struck him in the face leaving a cut. He was last seen running off towards the main stage.

“The area was busy at the time of the assault and there were lots of people filming the acts with their mobiles. We would ask people to have a look at their footage and see if they have anything taken around the time of the attack that my help us.

“The injured man was out having a great day and to be attacked for trying to help someone is terrible.
