Missing Ex-Glasgow Headmaster May Be Trying To Return To Glasgow
Police searching for an 82-year-old man missing from Essex for more than a week believe he may be trying to travel to Glasgow where he lived for more than 70 years.
Gordon Wilson, who has vascular dementia, was last seen by neighbours near his home in Leaden Roding at about 11am on Sunday October 25.
Officers searching for him believe he used a number of buses in the area and may have been trying to travel to Glasgow where he lived for more than 70 years and worked as the headmaster of Shawlands Academy.
Mr Wilson's daughter Gillian Wilson said: He moved from Scotland to Essex 11 years ago and spent 71 years in Glasgow, where he was a former headmaster at Shawlands Academy, so knows the city well.
Many of his former pupils are tweeting and sharing posts on Facebook as part of the appeal to find him and we are touched by everyone's concern and assistance.''
In a statement with sister Lesley Rankin, they added: Our dad is very loved, not just by his daughters but also by his three devoted grandchildren.
We just want him back as soon as possible. We ask everyone to please keep looking out for him.
Our dad visited Halstead with our mum many years ago and it's possible he's come back here to re-live happier times.
He may have gone strolling in the lovely countryside because it reminds him of his late wife.''
Mr Wilson is 5ft 11in with a medium build and grey thinning hair. He wears glasses and was last seen wearing a sports jacket which is either checked or navy. He usually wears a shirt, tie and jumper.
Braintree district commander Chief Insp Richard Melton said: We are now focusing our efforts on the last confirmed sighting of Mr Wilson being in Halstead.
I am appealing for members of the public to be vigilant and to contact us immediately if they see him.
I would also like to thank people for their response following our previous appeals and for sharing and re-tweeting them.''
