One man has died and a woman and boy are being treated in hospital

A man has died following a house fire in Milngavie.

Firefighters received a 999 call to the property at Catter Gardens shortly before 2am on Sunday.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene, where they found the blaze was well-developed.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said their crews removed a man, woman and boy from the house.

It was later confirmed the man, aged 45, had died. The 42-year-old woman and 11-year-old boy were taken to hospital in Glasgow.

The woman is understood to be in a stable condition while the boy is not thought to have suffered serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: A 45-year-old man has died following a fire in a house in Catter Gardens, Milngavie.

"A 42-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

"Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire but it it not thought to be suspicious.'

Fire crews used high-pressure jets to put out the blaze."

In a statement, the SFRS said: Specialist officers from the fire investigation unit attended the scene and will work with police to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.''
