Masked robbers attack a man on his doorstep.
They forced their way into the house in Upperton on Wednesday night
Two masked man forced their way into a man's house bear Airdrie before beating him around the head and body and stealing a three figure sum of money.
They turned up on the doorstep of the 57 year old man's house in Dervaig Gardens in Upperton between 2030 and 2100 on Wednesday night.
Police say he attempted to shut the door but the man with the balaclava forced it open and entered the house along with a second man who was also wearing a balaclava.
Both men then repeatedly struck the 57-year-old man causing head and facial injuries before leaving with a three figure sum of cash.
Detective Constable Thomas Kiernan at Coatbridge CID said: “This was a very sustained and brutal attack which has left this man with various facial and head injuries that required medical treatment.
“The area where this robbery occurred is quite rural therefore I appeal to residents in the local area to think back to whether they saw the two suspects hanging around the area or saw anything else a bit out of the ordinary on the evening of Wednesday 27 September.”
